The hills may well be alive with the sound of music, but the valleys
below now ring to the sound of golf. Framed by the spectacular scenery
that Julie Andrews made so famous, the broad flat plains twixt the
Austria Alps hold some tantalising golfing secrets. The scenery is quite remarkable and you will catch yourself
gazing in awe at the jagged granite walls and towering snow clad peaks
surrounding you as you stroll the lush green fairways. (Alpine
snows take a long time to filter down through the rock, providing
a natural reserve of water even in the hottest Summers).

After your game why not immerse yourself in the scenery? The freshwater lakes with their sandy beaches are perfect for a post match warm-down. Or you could take a summer cable-car up into the clear mountain air. Or hit the hotel spa. Or perhaps just pop-in to one of the many Viennese style coffee shops with their rich range of cream cakes... When it comes to dining, Austrian cuisine holds many a delicate surprise: freshwater fish from the deep clear lakes, all varieties of game, smoked hams and wild forest mushrooms from the hills; plus of course the hearty classics such as noodlesoup and goulash etcetera. You will also be very pleasantly surprised by the quality of Austrian wines, interesting grape varieties grow here, many unheard of beyond these valleys: well worth sampling! |

Guest Comments"Dear Cecile, We had a great time! The hotel was fine and accommodated some room changes without fuss and the staff at reception were always friendly and helpful. The golf courses were good except we had a considerable amount of rain and had to abandon the first day's golf after 9-holes. That was Mondsee which we also played on the Friday... ...Salzkammergut was wonderful and played in glorious sunshine with spectacular scenery. At Gut Altentann it rained again! However the 'rest' days were fine. The Champagne Prize Parcels arrived safely and everything was put to good use - especially the balls as there were a great many water hazards! Thank you for a well arranged trip and I am sure you will get more customers as a result. Kind regards to you and the other staff." Margaret Davey - Golf Society of Great Britain |
