Martin's Hotel***
The medieval city of Brugge seems to have been designed with casual strolling in mind: huge squares and quaint corners, with fascinating architecture and an inter-linking canal system to boot! Under two hours from Calais, it's perfect for a refreshing change of scenery.
In the very centre of Brugge, Martin's Hotel really does occupy position "A1". Recently refurbished from top to bottom it is now a modern and elegant hotel. The re-design has been very well thought out and the bedrooms have all the latest creature comforts from flat-screen TV's to mini-bars and hair-dryers.

The public areas are clean and uncluttered: the breakfast room is bright and airy (and there is the external courtyard too); the bar, though small is the perfect spot to gather before heading out to investigate all of Brugge's sights, cafés, bars and restaurants that are on your doorstep. The hotel does not have its own restaurant (yet) but there is no shortage of choice around and about the hotel.

Conveniently the hotel also has an underground car-park (albeit limited to cars of standard height), a rarity in the centre of a city originally designed with horses in mind!
