Golf holiday review of northern Belgium:
Brugge, Royal Zoute, Knokke-Heist and Oostende.

Golf holidays in Brugge

The medieval city of Brugge seems to have been designed with casual strolling in mind: huge squares and quaint corners, with fascinating Flemish architecture and an inter-linking canal system that makes it "the Venice of Belgium".

Eternally popular with tourists for all of the above reasons, the narrow streets and broad squares of Brugge groan with places to sip, shop, gaze, graze, quaff and munch. Every weekend tourists flood in from all the countries that border Belgium to enjoy the visual and epicurean delights.

The good news is that on top of all this general sightseeing there are some very good golf courses too! The proximity of Brugge to the Channel ports makes it an ideal venue for a short golf break - or it could be a stop-off en-route to other Belgian golf destinations.

Golf holidays in Zoute

Up on the Belgian coast there are two great golf courses - Royal Zoute and Royal Oostende. Both courses are well worth a round or two and the little coastal towns like Knokke-Heist are busy during the height of Summer, but very peaceful in Spring and Autumn.

We can arrange for you to stay up on the Belgian coast for your golf holiday if you like or even in the delightful Dormy rooms at Royal Zoute Golf Club - just ask!

Brugge & Zoute golf courses

The star of the golfing show is without a doubt Royal Zoute, which is simply a lovely place to play golf and a lovely Clubhouse too. Royal Oostende is the genuine links article with half the holes running through the dunes on the beach.

Close to Brugge, Damme is a thriving Golf Club with a course that is a very good test of parkland golf.

If these three aren't enough for you then hop over the Dutch border for a round at the pretty yet treacherous Oostburg, or you con stop off at Palingbeek for a round on your way to and from Calais.

Getting to Brugge & Zoute

By far the easiest route is the Eurotunnel or Dover-Calais ferries, as Brugge and its golf courses are under two hours from Calais, it's perfect for a quick break and a refreshing change of scenery if you live in the southeast of England.

Alternatively coming from further north, the Hull-Zeebrugge ferry cruises overnight and will drop you in Zeebrugge in plenty of time for a round at the wonderful Royal Zoute or Royal Oostende on arrival.  Brugge itself is only half-an-hour from the port.
