Golf holidays in Kent: Sandwich & Deal

Golf Holidays - Sandwich

Tuked away in the Southeast corner of England is a small outcrop of links golf of very high quality indeed.  It is hard to choose a favourite between the three (and a half) golf courses at Royal St. George's, Royal Cinque Ports and Prince's they are all of such a fine standard.

The town of Sandwich is just right too, a prim Kentish market town with just the right number of pubs and restaurants to keep the visiting golfer entertained and revitalised whilst playing this great little stretch of links golf.

Getting to Sandwich & Deal

If you are based anywhere in the Southeast of the UK then the only obstacle to getting to Sandwich will be London and the M25.  If you can negotiate that without too much trouble, then the Kent coast is not far at all.

Golf Holidays - Deal

Deal, just along the coast from Sandwich, is a larger and livelier seaside resort than its genteel neighbour.  In Deal you will find more pubs and bars, amusement arcades and more people spreading North and South along the shingle beach on both sides of its classic British seaside pier.  If you like your golf holidays to have a touch of the 'Kiss Me Quick' then Deal's the place for your golfing break!

Around and about Sandwich & Deal

This stretch of Southeast Kent has long shingly beaches and attracts both holidaymakers and retirees in equal measure.  This means that there is just about something to offer every type of golfer, from oysters to candy-floss!

The hinterland is quite marshy fed by the river Stour that runs through Sandwich out to the Channel near Ramsgate.  In the Summer the river is quite lively with small boats bobbing from riverside tavern to tavern.

Henry VIII's five fortified ports (Les Cinque Ports) lie along this coast and you will still find castles to visit at Walmer and Deal.
