Dolce Chantilly****

|
| One
of the finest, and most easily accessible, areas in France for golf
is Chantilly. With a classical 16th Century Château sitting
proudly in its formal gardens as the town centrepiece and a dozen
top-notch courses to choose from, it outshines all other areas in
northern France for choice of courses, culture and cuisine.
For golf trips to this region
of France, (about 25kms. north of Paris) there is really only one
place to stay - The Dolce Chantilly.
Concealed in the thick of the forest behind the stunning Château
and just across the road from Chantilly Golf Club, the exclusive
Dolce Chantilly hotel is perfectly placed for all of the courses
in the area. An up to date hotel with all of the facilities one
would expect - indoor and outdoor pools, fitness centre, choice
of restaurants: L'Etoile in its sunny conservatory serves a more
simple menu; La Carmontelle is a gastronomic experience that takes
time to savour. For elsewhere there is a vast range of choices in
Chantilly and the surrounding forest.
Beside the airy reception there is a
very comfortable bar - where Golf Par Excellence guests enjoy a
20% discount on their drinks!
The hotel course is possibly the least
demanding in the area, but pitched exactly right for a warm-up round
on arrival.

Golf Par Excellence guests at the Dolce Chantilly receive a very refreshing 20% off their bar bills!

La Grange aux Loups***
In the unassuming hamlet of Apremont, just a
long putt from the Golf Club, is the cosy family run Auberge - La
Grange aux Loups. The Auberge, founded by Jean-Claude Jalloux and
his family, almost entirely on a reputation for fine cuisine is
much appreciated in the vicinity. It is often difficult to find
a free table for dinner, although this is an easier task on warm
summer evenings when the restaurant spills out into the garden.
Watch out for Jean-Claude’s other specialist subject - opening
champagne with a golden sabre!
There are four en-suite double rooms in the
Auberge’s annexe - complete with private car parking. |
| Hotel du Parc***
A straightforward three-star hotel in the centre
of Chantilly. Simple accommodation for those looking for easy access
to the bars and restaurants on the "High Street" (and
the Night Club in the basement!). Private car park, for which there
is a small charge. |

Hostellerie du Lys***
In amongst the swanky residences and towering oaks
of the Domaine du Lys (close to the Golf Club of the same name) lies
this long-standing family owned and run establishment. Sized somewhere
between auberge and hotel, traditionally styled rooms are arranged
in three buildings around a small central garden and pool. A quiet
spot with plenty of character and delicious “home cooking”. |
Mont Griffon***
South of Chantilly, in the quiet of the countryside,
lies Mont Griffon. On this golf complex there is a straightforward
three star hotel, 18 and 9 hole courses, an approach course, plus
huge driving range complete with grass bays, practice bunkers,
chipping greens etc. etc. The clubhouse restaurant overlooking
the course opens in the evenings and this is where dinner is normally
served. The nearby town of Luzarches has a couple of simple brasseries
for alternative dining.
