The best hotels in Southern Brittany

Le Diana****

Facing the ocean in the ever popular holiday resort of Carnac-Plage, Le Diana is simply the best hotel in town. A family owned and well run establishment where you are assured of a warm welcome and a very comfortable stay.

A large bar and restaurant overlooks the sunny patio and outdoor pool (heated). Westerly facing, this is a superb spot for sundowners or a languid dinner. Downstairs there is a small health & beauty parlour with a Turkish bath, Jacuzzi and massages can be arranged to soothe those golfing muscles.

The hotel has a variety of room sizes and orientations – our prices are based on those along each side of the hotel with balconies overlooking the pines: there is a supplement for those facing the ocean. Suites are also available.

Château de Locguénolé****

This stately home, constructed in the early 1800’s is a hushed tribute to a bygone era. An aura of noble calm pervades the halls where ancestral oils gaze down on polished wooden floors bedecked with exquisite antique furniture.

Carefully converted by the "de la Sablière" family into a luxury hotel, many rooms have exposed beams and all have wonderful views over the Château’s 250 acres of grounds and 2 kms of river.

Long overdue for its second Michelin star and consistently praised in the Gault-Millau guide, the food at Locguénolé simply has to be tasted to be believed.

Hôtel du Golf de St. Laurent***

A perfect golfing location – right next door to the French Open course of St. Laurent GC. The Hôtel du Golf is a bright, modern style hotel that will have you on the 1st Tee in no time at all.

All of its rooms open out onto a private terrace or balcony and they have all the features you would expect, plus, unusually in France, tea and coffee making facilities. Other extra feature that not many three-star hotels can offer are a jacuzzi, sauna and tanning bed, making the Hôtel du Golf quite a luxurious establishment.

The hotel has young new owners who have re-vitalised the establishment, particularly the restaurant that now serves classic French cuisine and looks out over the swirl of the heated outdoor pool (May – September).

To get to other restaurants in the vicinity (Carnac is about fifteen minutes away) you will need to drive or arrange a taxi.

La Chenaie

Inland from the market town of Auray and the lively fishing port of Lorient, La Chenaie is placed en-route from the ports and close to the cluster of courses in this friendly little corner of Brittany.

This old Breton farmhouse has been carefully renovated by its owners Cedric and Joyce and now the tasteful interior and antique furnishings of the house add beautifully to the solid stone of the exterior. La Chenaie, with its ten en-suite rooms and two huge sitting/dining rooms makes the perfect abode for golfing parties both large and small. Our Spring and Autumn Golf Feasts grow in number every year, under the genial eye of Cedric and Joyce. Full details on our Tournaments page.

After a great day’s golf and in expectation of a supreme dinner, what better than to relax around the fireplaces or the sheltered pool, as the seasons dictate.

Hôtel Celtique***

A stone’s throw from the beach in Carnac-Plage the modern Hôtel Celtique is very well positioned for those wishing to combine all the activities of a friendly seaside resort with easy access to the southern Brittany courses. N.B. The Single room supplement is extremely good value during peak golfing times.

This family run hotel with its en-suite rooms, has several unique features including an indoor pool, private garages, whirlpool, gymnasium and a Turkish bath.

Dinner is served under the glass conservatory of the restaurant “An Doal” or alternatively outside on the wooden terrace. Carnac-Plage with its wealth of bars and restaurants is in fact a seaside extension of the colourful Breton village of Carnac.
