Set back from the coast in the quiet surroundings of the Opio-Valbonne golf course, the Château de la Bégude is a great little golf retreat. The old Château has only 30 rooms, which are varied in shape, size and outlook and spread throughout its old stone buildings. The Clubhouse and first Tee are right beside the chateau and the Clubhouse restaurant is open in the evenings for dinner. For dining out there are many more excellent restaurants just two-minutes away in the charming Provençal market town of Valbonne and more scattered around the Riviera hillsides and down on the coast. The perfect spot for enjoying the old villages and quieter side of the South of France, yet just half-an-hour into the centre of Cannes.

Amarante Golf Plaza**** Clinging to the hillside above the Blue Green course of Ste. Maxime it is worth staying at the Golf Plaza for the panoramic views alone. From the marbled reception, bar or restaurant you look
out across the course to the bay of St. Tropez beyond. This corner
of the French Riviera is built around small ports and fishing towns
each with its own individual flavour. Inland, the ancient hill-top
towns make a pleasant afternoon’s stroll. Only an hour from the airport at Nice, the Golf Plaza provides a truly luxurious holiday. |

1835 White Palm HoteL**** Fronted by the hustle and bustle of the old port of Cannes and backed by the old town (le Suquet), this refined hotel (previously Le Méditerranée) offers a supreme vantage point over the comings and goings in Cannes. Atop the hotel, beside the pool and sun deck, the rooftop gastronomic restaurant has arguably the finest view on the Riviera. There is also the provençal brasserie “Chez Panisse” with its sunny patio for more informal dining. In the evenings, along the quayside the open-fronted restaurants along the seafront are abuzz with diners enjoying the warm evening air. Should you wish to stay out later, the bright lights of the casino and assorted nightclubs are no distance at all…

Le Cavendish**** Just at the back of Cannes on the boulevard Carnot that leads out towards the motorway, Le Cavendish is Cannes first “boutique” hotel that offers a fascinating glimpse of bygone times on the Côte d’Azur – even going so far as an open bar in the drawing room. Built in 1897, Le Cavendish re-opened its doors in 2001, totally refurbished behind its listed façade, and returned to the style to which it had once been accustomed. Albeit with a few mod-cons too such as air-conditioning, satellite TV, mini-bars, valet parking, etcetera.
