| Gray d’Albion**** The Gray d’Albion stands in the very centre of shimmering Cannes, beside the “Boulevard de la Croisette”, and close to the old port. The hotel, which has just had all of its bedrooms and public areas refurbished, contains all you could wish for during a stay in Cannes - right down to its own night-club, private beach and even a row of shops! Set back from the coast in the quiet surroundings of the Opio-Valbonne golf course, the Château de la Bégude is a great little golf retreat. The old Château has only 30 rooms, which are varied in shape, size and outlook and spread throughout its old stone buildings. The Clubhouse and first Tee are right beside the chateau and the Clubhouse restaurant is open in the evenings for dinner. For dining out there are many more excellent restaurants just two-minutes away in the charming Provençal market town of Valbonne and more scattered around the Riviera hillsides and down on the coast. 1835 White Palm HoteL**** Fronted by the hustle and bustle of the old port of Cannes and backed by the old town (le Suquet), this refined hotel (previously Le Méditerranée) offers a supreme vantage point over the comings and goings in Cannes. Le Cavendish**** Just at the back of Cannes on the boulevard Carnot that leads out towards the motorway, Le Cavendish is Cannes first “boutique” hotel that offers a fascinating glimpse of bygone times on the Côte d’Azur – even going so far as an open bar in the drawing room. Built in 1897, Le Cavendish re-opened its doors in 2001, totally refurbished behind its listed façade, and returned to the style to which it had once been accustomed. Albeit with a few mod-cons too such as air-conditioning, satellite TV, mini-bars, valet parking, etcetera.
