Golf holidays in Hardelot & Le Touquet

There are lots of very good reasons to visit Hardelot and Le Touquet, the most salient being ease of access.  Living in the Southeast of England it is extremely easy to hop on the Eurotunnel and zip across for a breath of French air and a round or two at the half-a-dozen courses stretching along the Pas-de-Calais coastline from Boulogne down to Abbeville.

Golf Clubs around Hardelot and Le Touquet are supplied in both quantity and quality, so for a golf holiday in the Pas de Calais either town makes a good base: the choice is yours.

Le Touquet is by far the larger of the two towns with its huge sandy beach and busy high street crammed with restaurants, boutiques, cafés and bars providing ample apres golf entertainment - not to mention two casinos plus a few nightclubs too for night owls. 

Hardelot on the other hand, is a much quieter place for a French golf break as the town is very small, just one main street with a handful of casual brasseries and a few shops and cafés.  Hardelot is aimed more at family holidays really, with rows of modern apartment buildings fronting its kilometres of sandy beach.

Golf courses in Hardelot & Le Touquet

There are five predominant golf courses in the Pas de Calais: two at Hardelot (Les Pins & Les Dunes); two at Le Touquet (La Mer & La Forêt); plus the excellent Belle Dune golf course a little further to the South. Of these Les Pins, La Mer and Belle Dune are truly outstanding: any golfer would be happy to play them repeatedly. For a weekend golf break in France, these three alone make up the golfing menu for many.

Backing up these three big guns, are two smaller Golf Clubs at Wimereux and Nampont St. Martin, both of which are making great strides in the quality and presentation of their golf courses. Heading slightly inland, perhaps en-route to the ferry at Calais, you will come across Aa St. Omer Golf Club: a well presented parkland course, albeit quite hilly (take a buggy) and with an hotel on-site that is ideal for quick stopovers should you be heading further south. Getting to Le Touquet & Hardelot The very easiest way to access Le Touquet and Hardelot from the UK is via the Eurotunnel or frequent ferries to Calais. From here it is just an hour to Le Touquet and slightly less to Hardelot.

Golf Holidays - Montreuil-sur-Mer

For a taste of traditional France, a great place to stay is in the old fortified town of Montreuil-sur-Mer.  A classic French town (in fact the original setting for Les Misérables) that is only half-an-hour from the coast and well linked to all the golf courses by main roads.  Montreuil is not as overtly touristy as Le Touquet, but with several squares and cobbled streets for strolling and plenty of superb restaurants, it is becoming very popular and adds a real French flavour to your golf holiday.

Getting to Le Touquet & Hardelot

The very easiest way to access Le Touquet and Hardelot from the UK is via the Eurotunnel or frequent ferries to Calais.  From here it is just an hour to Le Touquet and slightly less to Hardelot.

If your destination is Fort Mahon (to be close to Belle Dune) then the journey from Calais is not much further - about an-hour-and-a-half to get there and it's good roads all the way.
