| La Baule - the premier golf resort on France’s
West coast - is complemented by suitably luxurious accommodation - the four-star Hôtel du Golf. Spacious villas and stylish suites border the sixth fairway of La Baule’s “Rouge” course. The roomy villas with their large dining rooms are designed for parties of six or eight: Suites and Deluxe Suites for two. Everybody has their own en-suite bedroom, plus a kitchen corner and private patios or balconies on the first floor. The villas have fully equipped kitchens and large sitting/dining rooms, plus a garage: in fact everything you need to self cater if you so wish. There is no longer a restaurant at the hotel; however options for dining out abound in La Baule and closer to home in St. André dez Eauz, and Escoublac. We totally agree with our past
guests who cannot speak too highly of this wonderful hotel on this

La Domaine de la Bretesche
Put simply, the Château de La Bretesche is one of the most stunning and best preserved French Châteaux surviving today. The grounds around the château (la domaine) have been crafted into a testing woodland golf course; the original outbuildings (servants quarters, stable block, etcetera) have been converted partly into a luxury hotel (see Golf Par Gold), partly into self-catering cottages and partly into the golf clubhouse. The château itself has been divided and sold off as individual apartments.

La Bretesche - The Cottages
The cottages at La Bretesche have always been the most relevant accommodation for visiting golfers, mainly due to the free golf that you will be entitled to, but also for the self-catering facilities at your disposal. You may choose to have breakfast included in your stay (which is served in the Clubhouse) or not. When evening rolls around the Clubhouse serves delicious, sensibly priced menus with daily specials or, if you fancy a real culinary treat, just across the Clubhouse courtyard there is the Michelin starred restaurant that looks out over the lake towards the Château: a fine spot for fine dining. The cottages are to be found either adjoining the Clubhouse or hidden through the forest that shrouds the golf course in its emerald cloak. Some are privately owned, but most are available to wayfaring golfers to enjoy the regal calm of La Bretesche. Whilst staying at the cottages you will be entitled to a round per day at La Bretesche, or you can swap for either of the La Baule courses, St. Jean de Monts or Nantes Vigneux. You will also have free access to the outdoor pool and to the variety of futuristic treatments available at the Cour Carré mini-spa attached to the hotel.

Le Lutetia Hotel*** - La Baule If you would like to stay in the centre of the seaside resort of La Baule, close to the beach, the bars, the restaurants, the shops and the casinos - then there is no finer three star hotel than Le Lutetia. The location is unbeatable, 200 yards from the seafront on the road that runs parallel to the Avenue Charles de Gaulle (La Baule's "High Street"). In the centre of all the action yet in the calm of the sidestreets. The hotel comprises two buildings that face each other across a pine-lined street. The hotel reception, restaurant and some of the bedrooms are in the more modern white fronted building; the remaining bedrooms are in the classic little stone-built house opposite. The hotel has a very good restaurant "Le Rossini" and indeed it is worth visiting even if you are staying elsewhere. All around the centre of La Baule you will find other restaurants, many of which focus on style (as befits the clientele) but with a generous sprinkling of cheerful crêperies and late-serving brasseries too. All are within easy strolling distance, so the car keys can be left behind. The pedigree of the hotel's owners, Christophe Delahaye and his wife, is impeccable; having run the hotel at Château de La Bretesche for ten years. He is therefore well acquainted with golfer's needs and will ensure that you get the utmost out of your stay and golf holiday in La Baule. |

The Hôtel Royal is one of the grand old hotels of La Baule around which the whole of the rest of the resort appears to have grown up - La Baule's flagship in many ways. Over the years all manner of glitterati have passed through its revolving doors and enjoyed its refined charms. Gazing out towards the ocean across its manicured lawns, the Royal Hotel holds its head high, proud of its history and status as one of France's very few five-star hotels. Although the Royal Hotel has a very traditional air, it has been gracefully modernised over the years. Testament to this forward thinking is the extensive Thalasso centre (sea water spa). All manner of treatments are available here, from week long courses with special diets, to an afternoon's revitalisation or just an hour's soothing. The Thalasso may even distract any non-golfers from the chic boutiques that surround the Royal! In addition to the indoor Thalasso pool there is an outdoor pool and of course three miles of sandy beach just outside your front gate. The restaurant at the hotel is exceptional, if a little formal. More relaxed dining is available at Le Ponton down on the beach or any of the other restaurants along La Baule's oceanfront and sidestreets - including the Casino just next door.

Hotel royal - le residence A little known feature of the Hotel Royal is its Residence. These are a dozen apartments just across the road from the hotel that offer the possibility of a spot of self catering with their small kitchenettes and are very good value, considering they allow access to all of the facilities at the hotel. The majority of the apartments have just one room, however four of them are "Duplex" i.e. a bedroom upstairs as well. Ideal for a well separated Twin room, or for families with a couple of children. Breakfast is included in the hotel, as is golf everyday at La Baule. The residence is makes a very attractive proposition for golfers spending more than just a few nights in La Baule.
