Standing right beside the Clubhouse at Royal Troon and overlooking the 18th Fairway, the Marine Hotel at Troon is not only the place to stay in Troon, but is also very good value for a quality four-star hotel. Over the years all the great names in golf have stayed here to play The Open Championship, so you will be treading in the footsteps of greatness - we can't promise that you will inherit their swings, but it can't do any harm! The hotel has been sensibly refurbished over the years and its new owners the Spanish Barceló group have wisely retained most of the original feel - just in a more modern fashion: in keeping with the history of the place. A new wing has been added that houses a good sized indoor pool and spa area along with gymnasium (should you feel the need). The restaurant offer sensibly priced dining along with the best golfing view in town. If you do want to head into town for an evening out, taxis will take five minutes as realistically it is a little too far to walk. A great base for the two courses at Troon, plus Prestwick, Kilmarnock, Western Gailes et al and close enough to play at Turnberry too. |
