Bovey Castle Hotel &
Golf Resort - Devon

Bovey Castle in the midst of Dartmoor

The Hotel

In the midst of the Dartmoor National Park, enveloped in a fold in Moretonhampstead's rolling hills, Bovey Castle is a luxurious, peaceful hideaway in England's verdant Southwest.

Bovey Castle has been restored to a country residence of some standing. Oak panelled drawing rooms with huge open fireplaces open out onto the balustraded terraces overlooking the river Bovey that percolates through the extensive grounds and golf course.

Bedrooms are extremely quiet and comfortable and benefit from all "mod-cons"; flat screen TV's, DVD /CD player - there is even a decanter of house sloe gin for your delectation! During your stay the courteous staff will do their utmost to staisfy your every requirement and to ensure that your stay is a memorable one.

Besides the golf, there is a host of other organised activities to indulge in - a list of the next day's events, from falconry and fishing to archery and horse-riding, is delivered to your room each day. You are more than welcome to participate in whatever takes your fancy. Just make sure you are back in time to taste the evening's wine selection in the cellar...

After dinner you are welcome to turn your hand to billiards, withdraw to the cigar room, or a quiet corner of the bar of one of the many splendid sitting rooms.

The Course

Bovey Castle
Architect: J.B. Abercromby (1925)
Re-modelled:
D. Steel & T. MacKenzie (2003)
18 holes: 6303yds: par 70.
The original course at Moretonhampstead was always tremendously popular, but admittedly had a few quirky corners. Now, with a re-design plus a generous helping of investment, the course has improved beyond all recognition. Greens have been moved; fairways flattened: no stone has been left unturned to make the Bovey Castle course a treat for all to play.
The front-nine winds its way along the valley, accompanied all the way by the Bovey and Bowden rivers. The back-nine is on higher ground with less water and a more expansive feel.

The pools and Spa

The Spa

After all the golf and other sporting activities that are on hand, you may well find yourself in need of a rest - fear ye not for the Castle has a full spa with a complete range of health and beauty treatments plus the latest "Elemis" products on hand to soothe those over-indulged muscles.

Relax in one of the pools, jacuzzis, sauna or steam rooms and let the well trained therapists take good care of you.
