Dublin Golf Courses & Portmarnock Links
 |
|
Portmarnock
Architects: Pikeman/Ross
18 + 9 holes: 6656m: Par 73
Legendary links golf from the 1st tee to the 18th
green. The shifting sands of Portmarnock means that the course is in a continual state of evolution. One of the Old Guard of Irish golf.
Tee reservations need to be made well in advance due to restricted
visiting days. |
Portmarnock Links
Architect: B. Langer
18 holes: 6195m: Par 71
Initially open terrain with little shelter from the ever present sea breeze makes the front nine a stern test of long straight hitting. Along the back the hummocks and hillocks slowly grow around you and build towards the
climactic finale down the funnel of dunes. |

|
The Island
Architect: A. Palmer.
18 holes: 6519m: Par 72.
Once upon a time the only way to reach the Island
was by row-boat: thankfully there is now a road!
An undiscovered gem hidden amongst towering dunes that stands up well
to comparison to any Irish links. |
The K Club (Palmer course)
Architect: A. Palmer
18 holes: 6519m: Par 72
Clearly designed by Mr. Palmer with Tour golf in mind; a scenic yet exacting
test of anyone's golf. Scene of the Ryder Cup in 2006, so sure to be greatly in demand thereafter.
N.B. Don't forget the other 18 holes of the K-Club: the inland links of the Smurfit course. |

|
Co. Louth
Architect: T. Simpson
18 holes: 6113m: Par 73
100% links from start to finish. Often overlooked but
more than worth the drive from Dublin. One of our favourite Irish courses. |
Royal Dublin
Architect: H. Colt 18
holes: 6281m: Par 72
Eire's only "Royal"
course speaks volume's of its history. On a spit of land (Bull Island)
projecting into Dublin bay. Classic test of golf, pot bunkers, ditches
and hummocks abound. Recently strengthened by a slight redesign of several
holes. |

|
St. Margaret‘s
Architects: P. Ruddy & T. Craddock
18 holes: 6226m: Par 73
Hailed as the best new course in Ireland and regular host to the Irish PGA Championship.
A subtle
modern design that tips its hat in the general direction of Augusta - particularly between the 11th & 13th. |
Luttrellstown Castle
Architect: N. Bielenberg
18 holes: 6384m: Par 72
A tranquil beauty through the established forests of
the majestic castle. |
|

|
 |
|
St. Anne's
Architect: The Members 18
holes: 5669m: Par 70
A shorter, true links
in every sense as it shares the sandy soil of Bull Island with its grander neighbour: Royal Dublin. |
Malahide
Architect: E. Hackett. 18
+ 9 holes: 6066m: Par 71
Cunning parkland course, that has recently had a lot of time and money spent on its presentation; it is now in top condition.
Three loops of nine holes
with water hazards, a few blind shots, elevated greens and always a good buzz in the Clubhouse. |

other courses to consider
Around Dublin there are a whole host of great courses - some of which you may never have heard of - Swords, Skerries, Charlesland, Hollystown, Howth, Seapoint, Donabate, Carton House, The Hermitage and Woodbrook for example. At these little Clubs you will find great value golf and plenty of home-grown character - call us for the "local knowledge".
