Palace Hotel****

The best-placed hotel in Como - right on the lakeshore from where the whole town is within walking distance and passenger boats ply their trade on the quay.
The Palace hotel is a large establishment with spacious rooms around a central forecourt that also provides some of the parking facilities (there are 30 more spaces in an underground automaton behind the hotel).

The hotel's restaurant, "L'Antica Darsena" forms a secluded corner at one end of the building and has a fairly gastronomic menu although not overly pricey and a very reasonable wine list featuring many products of the local vineyards.

The small two-storey building by the entrance houses the bar upstairs and the ice-cream parlour on the ground floor (well it is Italy!). The sunny patio is the perfect spot to while away an hour or two watching the gentlefolk of Como taking their "passeggiata".

Le Due Corti****

The oldest hotel in Como and one that is full of surprises! From the plain exterior one has no idea of the treasures that lie within...

The hotel has been entirely renovated by its charismatic owner Giovanni. He is fiercely proud of the culture of Como and he proclaims his restaurant to be the finest in Como - many of the guidebooks agree.

The hotel rooms all feature original red brick ceilings and have a unique charm.
The inner courtyard provides parking for the hotel and houses the small pool in front of the restaurant where you may dine al fresco on the warm summer evenings.

Below ground there is a vaulted cellar - ideal for private functions, plus a small wine cellar where wine tastings or dinners can be arranged for groups of up to twenty or so. An ideal place to learn more about the, very palatable, wines of Lombardy.

Due Corti - Apartments

One of the biggest surprises at Le Due Corti are the eight apartments. Recently finished, most of these have kitchen facilities and can sleep from two to four. Breakfast can be included at the hotel if you wish, or you can stay on a totally self-catering basis.

Le Tre Re***

Inside the walls of Como, the Tre Re Hotel is right in the centre of town.  Although this makes it a little tricky to access by car (the streets are narrow and often crowded) it does offer very good value accommodation in a stereotypical Italian family-run hotel.

The bedrooms at the Tre Re are simple affairs, but always kept clean and tidy under teh watchful eye of "Mamma".  The hotel has a compact forecourt for parking (or more appropriately tesselating) vehicles; an activity in which the staff play a key role everyday.

There is a good restaurant on the ground floor which serves traditional Italian fare and there is always a bar service available in the sitting room.  And all the other restaurants and cafes of Como are just outside your front door.

Metropole & Suisse****

One of the oldest establishments in Como as the old black and white photos on the walls confirm.  Originally two hotels side by side (can you guess their names?) they were joined together in the late 1800's to form one larger hotel.  This is why the room numberings appear slightly illogical and the corridors form unusual shapes.

A classic Italian feel of this family owned and run hotel pervades the building, three generations are to be found behind the scenes busy with every aspect of looking after you during your stay.  The current manager Roberto is also a very keen golfer - so fully understands what we all go through!

Although an historic building, the public areas of the hotel have been refurbished in a fairly up to date style.  The terrace in front of the hotel (where breakfast and dinner is normally served) is right on one of Como's main squares - ideal for watching the world go by.

There is a small garage behind the hotel, other parking is available in a nearby public car-park that has twenty-four hour surveillance.
