Hotel Astoria**** At the top end of the spa town of Montecatini, surrounded by greenery, near the funicular up to old Montecatini Alto, you will find the classically family-run Hotel Astoria. This vintage hotel, with its high ceilings and marble flooring, has been lovingly cared for by generations of the same Taddei family. The Astoria has its own quiet gardens in which you will find the well-sized pool complete with sun-loungers where drinks, and even lunch, may be served to you. A short evening stroll will lead you down past the main spas and gardens, to the centre of town with its array of boutiques, cafes and restaurants. |

Hotel Corallo*** In the centre of Montecatini, but away from the main thoroughfare, the Corallo is a classic family run Italian hotel. The comfortable rooms are a good size, fairly simply decorated but all have recently renovated bathrooms. The restaurant is abuzz with activity in the evening as waitresses scurry back and forth with huge dishes of steaming pasta, on warm evenings dinner may be served on the shaded patio. The small rooftop swimming pool and terrace next to the bar is an ideal spot for some post round therapy. The hotel also has a private car-park.

Poggio dei Medici**** Away from it all, up in the hills, yet only 25kms. from the centre of Florence, the UNA Poggio dei Medici golf resort is an oasis of Tuscan tranquillity. Easily accessed from Bologna airport and only half an hour from Florence the spacious, modern rooms created predominantly in restored farmbuidings, make for a very peaceful break. The hotel’s characterful bar and superb restaurant are situated in the new Clubhouse where you will also find the Spa, Pro-Shop, Turkish bath, gym and outdoor swimming pool. All in all, a very stylish Tuscan retreat.

At the Grotta Giusti spa in Monsummano Terme just a few miles down the road from Montecatini (and where, somewhat perversely, you will find the Montecatini Golf Club!) are the largest underground thermal caves in Europe at Grotta Giusti. There is a now a very luxurious hotel on site (in fact it is built over the thermal caves) where you can mix golf and pampering to your bodies content. Well worth visiting for the caves alone, never mind the huge list of treatments available. |

Florence If you would like to stay in the very heart of Florence, then just let us know as there are many options in the middle of this wonderful town (although getting out to the golf courses each day will take a little longer). The combination of a stay in Montecatini with a few nights sightseeing in town is worthy of consideration. |
