Morocco is a fascinating country to visit: the closest part of Africa to Europe - a unique melting pot of races and cultures, where various desert peoples criss-cross the plains, towns and mountains; each adding their own spice to the proceedings.
Unsurprisingly, the country has a very Arabian feel to it, but there is also a ready awareness of Western culture, so the culture shock is never too severe! If you have never been to Africa before, then Morocco is a great place to start.
Marrakech lies inland at the foot of the Atlas mountains and enjoys a superb climate during our Winter months: dry and not too hot. There are three excellent golf courses (one old, two modern) and there are another two courses surrently under projection. The hotels around town are very westernsied in terms of facilities and would stand up well to comparison with luxury hotels in Europe. |

All varieties of food are available from traditional Moroccan dishes (Cous-cous, tajine etcetera) to European cuisine and even the all-pervasive hamburger. The main square in Marrakech (Jmaa el Fnaa) plays host to the largest conglomeration of itinerant chefs every evening where you can find everything from freshly squeezed orange juice to dates, pistachios and cashews to boiled snails, fried chicken, mutton stew... Around this gastronomic hot-pot, you will find an array of snake-charmers, magicians, fortune tellers, et al, that are unique to the fascinating city of 1,001 nights. |
| Behind the square, amongst the narrow alleys of the Souk you can haggle to your heart's content over wood carvings, spices, tea-pots, slippers, leather poufs, Arabian lamps, jewellery and a million and one other hand crafted items. |
