The best (possibly only!) place to stay close to the Nottinghamshire golf courses is the Forest Lodge in Edwinstowe.  With just a dozen bedrooms it's a very cosy establishment, centred around a friendly bar.  However, being small it sells out quickly - so please contact us well in advance to arrange your stay!

The bedrooms are all on the first floor and have been given full overhaul and a nice splash of colour by the charming French proprietor, Audrey.  Comfortable, with good bathrooms and only a flight of stairs from the bar and restaurant, they are ideal accommodation for golfing parties heading for Coxmoor, Hollinwell or Sherwood Forest Golf Clubs.

The bar stocks a variety of Real Ales and in the cooler months roaring fires too.  The French influence can be seen around the restaurant tables too: interesting menus that frequently change with what's in season.  For dining out, there are one or two other places along the short High Street in Edwinstowe, but the Forest Lodge is the premium place to dine.

There is a good-sized car park behind the Forest Lodge so no problem parking in Edwinstowe and with the main trio of courses only half-an-hour away the Forest Lodge is as convenient as it is comfortable.

Ye Olde Bell**** - Barnby Moor

Luxury hotels close to the Nottinghamshire Golf Clubs simply do not exist!  So if you crave comfort (and maybe spa-time?) after your golf, a little driving will be required; however, Ye Olde Bell on the edge of the moors is well worth the extra mile.  A 17th Century Coaching Inn, it now surpasses its former glory and is without doubt the finest hotel within a reasonable drive of the best Nottinghamshire golf courses.

The hotel spreads across the original buildings and some newer addition in the extensive grounds.  The overall style is traditional English with classic furniture and decor in the halls and public spaces.  Bedrooms on the other hand have been gently brought up-to-date with modern fabrics to complement the period furniture.  Bathrooms look, feel and function like new.

Ye Olde Bell**** - Barnby Moor

Ye Olde Bell has a generously sized and rather welcoming bar, always stocked with a variety of local Real Ales.  Cosy in the Winter and spreading out into the gardens in the Summer: a bar for all seasons.  The gardens at Ye Olde Bell are a lovely additional feature and the ideal spot for refreshments at their outdoor bar under the shade of the spreading pines.

The '1650' restaurant at the hotel is rather jazzy when compared to the stately surroundings of the rest of the hotel.  Occupying several rooms on the ground floor (one with a dazzling bar) the food served is outstanding using seasonal ingredients across its continually changing menu.  You will be more than happy to dine-in most nights of your stay.  Although for a night out there is also a very good 'gastro-pub' in the village and a high-class Indian restaurant: amazing for a tiny village in the wilds of the moors!

The most surprising feature of Ye Olde Bell is its gigantic Spa.  Tucked away in a Tardis-like building on the edge of the car-park it's a soothing world of calm and care - complete with bar and restaurant!

An indoor/outdoor pool with jacuzzi and assorted water-jets greets you as you enter the spa area, further along there is an array of saunas, steam rooms, massages and treatment rooms, ice-showers, salt rooms et cetera, et cetera to rival the very best European spas - they even have a snow-walk!

The spa has its own spafficionados, many of whom travel long distances to spend a day here, so it's best to book your visit and treatments before you arrive.  There is a fee for using the facilities in addition to any treatments you may like.
