THE BEST VENETO HOTELS FOR VENETIAN GOLF HOLIDAYS
Including: Treviso, Padova & Abano Terme.
Villa Franceschi****- Venice Lagoon
Very close to the Venice Lagoon, there is a run of quiet little villages on the low-lying marshy lands, that very few people ever visit. Mira is one of these micro-villages; located only twenty-minutes from Venice, it's a secret hideout away from all the mass-tourism hullabaloo!
The Villa Franceschi has sot on the banks of the town's canal for over one-hundred years and today provides a superb luxury hideaway.
The Villa comprises two buildings that house the bedrooms, a fine restaurant, an outdoor pool and a secluded garden. The whole is furnished in the ornate Venetian style with Murano glass hanging from every available ceiling space, so you wil be truly immersed in the Veneto décor!
The restaurant occupies a large conservatory and terazza, making dining outside by the pool a wonderful way to spend an evening. In the lobby you will find a small bar and caffé for daytime refreshments. Should you wish to dine out there are two other restaurants in Mira, only yards away that offer a more laid-back setting for dinner or a drink (or try our fisherman's hideout down on the waterways).
Owned by the Dal Corso family for three generations, the current heir - Alessandro - as well as being a very nice fellow and a mine of local information, is also very 'hands-on' when it comes to customer care: he will most likely be there when you arrive to escort you and your luggage in from the car-park: service doesn't get more personal!
Europa Hotel***- Padova
Padova is a wonderful city to visit, however the central hotel selection is surprisingly limited! The Europa is the best option: a straightforward three-star hotel, clean and tidy, that offers a great location (and parking) in the very heart of Padova.
Recently refurbished throughout, the Europa Hotel has a bright and cheery Reception, with similarly bright and cheery Receptionists! Bedrooms also fit the 'bright and cheery' pattern, so you are assured of a comfortable night's sleep.
The Europa has a simple restaurant but with so many wonderful trattorie around town, we are sure that you will be strolling out to dine on every evening of your stay. As always, we shall provide a short list of some of our favourite restaurants in Padova.
Getting to the Golf Clubs each day from Padova is very easy and with the hotel's own car-park nearby putting the car away for the night afterwards is just as easy!
All in all, a simple hotel with the perfect location for golf, visiting Padova and sightseeing in Venice.
Carlton Hotel***- Treviso
A simple hotel but perfectly located close to the centre of Treviso and the train station. The Carlton Hotel provides a clean and comfortable base for exploring all the attractions of Veneto - golfing , architectural, historical, cultural and epicurean as you please.
The Carlton is easily reached by car (there is a private car park) and it is only a couple of hundred yards from Treviso's main piazza, crammed with cafés and restaurants. For visiting Venice the station is just two minutes away from where it's half-an-hour on the direct train to the main quay and the vaporetti - simpleissimo!
The hotel dates from the 60s so has some interesting design ideas. But don't worry, it has been updated since and was recently totally redecorated (albeit in fairly vivid colours) throughout the lobby and lounges. Bedrooms though are in more subdued tones and all rooms have showers rather than bathtubs. Superior rooms are slightly larger and feature 'Juliette' balconies. (highly appropriate considering where you are!).
A good breakfast is served every morning but there is no restaurant at the Carlton, which will only encourage you to step-out and investigate the multitude of osterias in town - the only problem will be choosing which one to try first!
All-in-all, a simple hotel but a perfect location for golfers that will spend all day outdoors, either playing on the grass, gondoling the canals or dining in style.
Continental Hotel***- Treviso

Right beside the Carlton hotel (see above) so having all the same advantages of location, but with an enclosed garage for your car.
Another simple hotel (no restaurant) but more traditionally styled and much more appealing inside than out! One of its most intriguing features being the small bar built into the vestiges of an old chapel.
Bedrooms are compact with all the standard amenities and most have shower cubicles as opposed to baths.

Hotel Terme Roma****- Abano Terme
The Italians take their spa holidays very seriously and there is a whole string of spa towns running along the Euganean hills dedicated to 'wellness'. Of these, Abano Terme has blossomed into the principal centre with a town crammed full of spa hotels both old and new. The centre of the Abano is car-free, which makes it a very pleasant spot for strolling. The spas in some of the hotels can be quite medical but golfers will generally just make use of their excellent leisure facilities like the pools and saunas. However it's nice to know that massages are available if you have over-stretched yourself with the driver
One of the original spa hotels in the spa town of Abano Terme. A town dedicated to well-being and relaxation - how nice! Every hotel in Abano is awash with spa facilities offering a multitude of treatments and therapies; the Hotel Roma is no exception. What's nice about the Roma is that those 'taking the waters' are tucked away in a dedicated spa centre in the basement whilst those present purely for relaxation can enjoy the indoor and outdoor pools on the first floor.

The style of the Roma is old school Italian and well cared for by the family that have owned it for several generations. Breakfast is extensive and served in the large dining room. Dinner is served here too in the family style with most guests eating in (and sitting down at the same time each evening). If you would rather dine out there are several restaurants spread around the pedestrianised centre of town.
