Where to stay on a Saint Andrews golfbreak.

St. Andrews Old Course Hotel****

St. Andrews - Old Course Hotel

Familiar to all who have trodden the hallowed turf of The Home of Golf, St. Andrews Old Course Hotel sits alongside the (in)famous Road Hole on the 17th of the Old Course.  It is a magnificent place to stay and savour all of the golfing delights that this small seaside town has to offer.

The hotel has recently been totally renovated making it once again the height of luxury, yet without abandoning its sense of tradition.  From the course-side bedrooms and the restaurants, you will have the best view in town as the rolling links and "Auld Grey Toon" stretch away before you.

During your stay make the most of the extensive spa area with its lovely pool, sauna steam rooms, or allow yourself to be properly pampereed with a massages or one of the other treatments available.

For dining there are two excellent options: the Road Hole Grill overlooking the 17th and the more gastronomic Sands restaurant and lounge - that also overlooks the famous Road Hole!  After dinner, drop into the legendary Jigger Inn for a dram - very good for your swing, so we're told...

Rusacks Hotel****

Rusacks Hotel St. Andrews - RestaurantOverlooking the 18th Green and R&A Clubhouse, Rusacks Hotel has been a part of the St. Andrews scenery for as long as anyone can remember.

This fine old hotel has been lovingly cared for over the years and cautiously modernised without sacrificing any of the charms of yesteryear.  Broad hallways and high ceilings welcome you in and before too long you may just start to feel like part of the scenery too...

Rusacks offers excellent dining looking out to sea over the Old Course and it just a short stroll from the front door to the Starter's Hut.

Fairmont St. Andrews*****

Fairmont St. Andrews HotelAround the bay from the town is the modern golf and spa resort of the Fairmont St. Andrews.  A large hotel that has just enjoyed a £17m refurbishment to lend it a more authentic Scottish look and feel, which we think is appropriate.

There are two courses around the hotel (with the best Clubhouse in town) which have also been dramatically improved, making the Fairmont now a great out of town place to stay and enjoy all that the St. Andrews' coastline has to offer - which is a lot.

When it comes to dining the Fairmont has a couple of options either the hotel restaurant or teh more relaxed environment and wonderful coastal views of the golf clubhouse.

Similarly, for pre or post dinner drinks there are two bars in the hotel, plus the clubhouse.

The hotel is very bright and airy with a floor to ceiling atrium forming the central feature of the hotel.

There is also an extensive pool and spa area in a separate wing of the hotel where you can enjoy some serious relaxation.

Other St. Andrews Hotels and Guesthouses

The narrow streets of St. Andrews are crammed full of small hotels, pubs with rooms and hundreds of B&B's.

So if you prefer more modest accommodation we can find just the right place for you.  None of the courses have requirements to stay at a particular hotel so the St. Andrews world of golf will still be your oyster.

Brownlees Guesthouse

One of our favourite B&B's is Brownlees Guesthouse where Trevor and Jacqui (both very keen golfers themselves who have played in our tournaments) will look after you in their fine style.
