Right in the very heart of Seville (just where you want to be) Las Casas de la Juderia is a stunning collection of 27 houses in Seville's original Jewish quarter that have been blended together beautifully to create the most exquisite hotel in the city: more of a hamlet than an hotel! The style is unmistakebly Moorish with dozens of open courtyards and small internal gardens linked by narrow passageways. Internally the hallways and lounges are filled with fabulous furniture, dotted with ancient artefacts and floored with polished jacaranda.
Bedrooms have been beautifully decorated too, no two of the 137 are the same each and every one its original size and shape, just modern furnishings and fresh decoration has been added, bathrooms too have been brought right up-to-date. All very luxurious.
Sadly, the hotel's restaurant 'Baqus' is now closed: happily there are hundreds of restaurants and tapas bars to choose from in central Seville (could be why the restaurant closed?!?). All of these eateries are just a stroll along the city's narrow old backstreets. In fact, outside Las Casas you will see ten restaurants from the doorstep and heading along the picturesque old lanes into the centre of the city you will pass myriad more tapas bars and restaurants - some dating from the 14th Century (the food is more recent though!).
Another delightful surprise at La Casas de la Juderia is the rooftop pool. In the Summer, when temperatures can soar up into the 40s a dip in its cooling waters provides the perfect antidote to the Seville sunshine. The views down on the surrounding alleys of the old town are fascinating too. And just when you think all the surprises are over, wander downstairs to the rather salubrious spa...
