Golf holidays in the Highlands

The heart of Scotland has to be the Highlands: swirling bagpipes, swirling kilts, swirling rivers and swirling whisky is for most the very essence of Scotland.  Amongst these Highland Hills are some great little golf courses too.  Arguably more Scottish than the big name courses as they have not been discovered by mass golf tourism, they preserve their own identity - and you'll only hear local accents in the Clubhouse (whether you can understand them is another matter!)

Aside from the golf there is plenty of wildlife to be spotted (eagles of the feathered variety for instance) and drawing pure mountain water from the Spey are the famous distilleries of the region: Cragganmore, Grantown, Cardhu to name but a few.  And the best way to get around must surely be the Strathspey Steam Railway a puff of history as it chugs its way through the beautiful Highland scenery.

Highland Golf Clubs

In amongst the stark beauty of the Cairngorms there are half-a-dozen entertaining golf courses (and several nine-holers) with layouts and views that you just won't find anywhere else in the world.  They may never host The Open but they will test your golfing skills and stamina with a variety of challenges, the like of which you may never see again! The other great attraction of golf in the Scottish Highlands is the price: Green-fees are targeted at local players, hence sensible.  If you are looking for authenticity - look no further.

Cairngorms

Heading south from Inverness, you pretty quickly arrive in the Cairngorms National Park, home to some of Scotland's highest mountains and ski resorts.  The scenery here is stunning, green rolling hills with a snowy backdrop and the silence deafening - all you will hear is the call of the wild.  Enveloped in all this glory are some beautiful little highland golf courses, Boat of Garten is the supreme example but there are others too to be found hiding in the misty hills.  Grantown-on-Spey and Kingussie are two remarkable golf courses where the scenery is so distracting it's almost annoying!

Getting to the Highlands

Scottish river & bridge

Getting to your golf holiday in the Highlands can simply be a question of slinging your clubs in the car and jumping in!  If you need to fly there are direct flights into Inverness from many parts of the UK and Europe.  From Inverness it will take about an hour to drive down to the Cairngorms, so you could land, collect your hire-car and be on the first Tee shortly after lunch.

We can arrange flights for you if you wish or are equally happy to let you book these yourselves if you prefer?

We can arrange a hire-car for the duration of your holiday, or we have a very reliable coach and minibus company that we use if you prefer to be chauffeured form golf course to golf course around Aviemore and the Boat of Garten?

If you are considering driving to your golf holiday in the Highlands, then that is even easier still!  As you might imagine, Inverness is well connected to by road through Scotland and thence to the rest of the UK.
